FAQ

Questions, answered straight.

The things teams actually ask before they deploy — connectivity, data ownership, and how Fleet fits alongside what you already run. No spin.

Platform & fit

Does Fleet replace my OEM telematics (Cat VisionLink, John Deere Operations Center, and the rest)?

No — it covers what they don't. OEM portals track the machines that shipped with factory telematics, usually your newest, largest iron. Fleet covers everything else: attachments, light towers, generators, older machines, and rentals that never had a modem. Most fleets run both and use Fleet for one view across the mixed fleet instead of six separate OEM logins.

How long does it take to get started?

A pilot is usually days, not months. Tag the assets, place a hub or two — or just open the mobile app — and data starts flowing the same day. You can start with a single yard and expand once you've seen it work on your own equipment.

In the field

What happens in a dead zone with no signal?

The system is built for it. Hubs log locally and backfill when a connection returns, and in the mobile app any field check-in or hour correction queues on the device and syncs the moment you're back on signal. Nothing is lost because the back of the site has one bar.

How accurate is Bluetooth location?

BLE gives you presence and proximity — which site, which yard, which hub a machine is near — not survey-grade coordinates. For most fleet questions, like whether the paver is still on the Highway 12 job or has walked, that's exactly the right resolution, and it works indoors and under cover where GPS struggles. For assets that need precise position, we pair BLE with GPS and cellular gateways.

Does the phone app track my crew?

No. The background scanning looks for your tagged equipment, not people. A sighting belongs to the gear, not whoever is carrying the phone, and there's no person-tracking anywhere in the product.

Is there an Android app?

Yes. Fleet Mobile is live on both the App Store and Google Play, free with your Echolo Fleet account. The web platform also works in any mobile browser.

Data & deployment

Who owns the data?

You do. It's your equipment and your telemetry. We don't sell it and we don't roll it into a benchmarking product. You can export it at any time, and on-premise deployments keep it inside your own network entirely.

Can we run Fleet on our own infrastructure?

Yes. Fleet runs as our managed cloud or on-premise and at the edge on hardware you control, for teams with data-residency or air-gap requirements. It's the same platform either way — the on-premise page covers the two modes in detail.

How secure is it?

Traffic is encrypted in transit, access is role-based, and the queue-backed pipeline carries equipment telemetry rather than sensitive personal data. For stricter requirements, the on-premise option keeps everything within your own network perimeter.

Hardware & pricing

How long does a tag battery last?

Typically a couple of years on a standard coin cell, depending on the tag and how often it reports. Tags are user-replaceable, and the platform flags a low battery well before it dies so a machine never goes dark unexpectedly.

How does pricing work?

Fleet comes in three plans — Starter, Pro, and Enterprise. Each plan's base covers a set number of assets — 25 on Starter, 100 on Pro, 250 on Enterprise — and assets beyond that are billed per-asset. Starter scales to 50 assets, Pro scales to 250 assets, and Enterprise has no ceiling. Every plan runs the real platform and ships with AI fleet insights, AI report summaries, and equipment check-out & assignments; higher tiers add depth like work-order auto-triage, maintenance orders, and QR codes for equipment. Start with a 14-day free trial, then tell us what you're running and we'll put a real number to it.

What happens if my fleet outgrows the assets included in my plan?

Nothing breaks — you keep adding assets and they're billed per-asset on top of your base. That's deliberate: growing your fleet should never be blocked by a billing limit. Starter covers 25 assets and scales to 50, Pro covers 100 assets and scales to 250, and Enterprise covers 250 assets and has no ceiling. Once you're consistently past a tier's range, moving up is usually the cheaper option, and we'll tell you when that's the case rather than letting the per-asset charges quietly stack up.

Want to see it on your fleet?

Twenty minutes on a call. We open Fleet, go through your equipment types, and tell you what a deployment across your sites would take. The person on the call is the person who writes the code.
